hand, and a bundle of bamboo sticks recording historical events on his right hand. (In the
old days, characters were marked on bamboo sticks to keep historical record).

The giant flag on which written four characters "Hung Vuong Quoc To" ("Hung
Vuong, Nation Founder").
Both types of stamps show the pictures, engraved on the faces of bronze drums which
were found In Ngoc Lu region (Ha Nam Province In North VIet Nam) describing the dally
activities such as boat rowing, hunting, rice pounding of Vietnamese people's ancestors
wearing strange costumes : bird feathers decoration on the head. Stars with many points
symbolizing the Sun as the living force of the Universe. These bronze drums with the above
decorating sub) ects are the relic of the prehlstorlcal
culture (Bronze Age) of Hung Vuong dynasty.
Hung Vuong was the first king of VIet Nam, which then called Van Lang (actual North VIet
Nam), her capital was Phong Chau (Bach Hac District, Vinh Yen Province). King Hung Vuong
founded Hong Bang dynasty reigning from 2879 B.C. to 258 B.C.
Every year, on the 10th of the Third lunar month, Vietnamese people celebrate the
commemoration of Hung Vuong to think of the achievement of their Nation Founder.
